JAMES R. LARSON
James R. Larson, age 67, of Random Lake, died unexpectedly on Friday, Aug. 20, 2010 at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital in Mequon.
He was born in Milwaukee on June 6, 1943, son of the late Oscar and Mary (Behnke) Larson.
He attended St. Joseph Grade School in Milwaukee, graduated from Boys Trade and Technical High School in Milwaukee, and later earned a business management degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago.
He married Diane Stengel on June 25, 1966 at St. Josephat’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee. He served his country in the United States Navy in 1967.
Jim was a tool and die maker by trade that throughout his working career found him working for several different companies.
In his free time he enjoyed trout fishing, and spending time with family, especially finding his second childhood by engaging in various Lego projects with his granddaughter. Some of his greatest accomplishments in life included three ironman challenges, two double ironman’s, and countless other triathlons, marathons and other athletic events. He was also a brown belt in Tae kwon do.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diane Larson of Random Lake; two children, Christopher (April) Larson of Waukesha and Wendy (Rob) Scholler of Random Lake; a granddaughter, Tristan Scholler of Random Lake; a brother, and two sisters. He is further survived by many other friends and family members.
He was also preceded in death by one brother.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Schneider Funeral Home in Plymouth (formerly Wittkopp- Schneider) with the Rev. Richard Cerpich officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home (123 South St., Plymouth) on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
