Junior Cole Reinemann of Howards Grove was voted to the 2010 all-state summer baseball first team by the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association.

Reinemann is the second player in school history to earn all-state baseball first-team honors. The shortstop-pitcher was selected as an infielder. Matt Schroeder, a 2008 Howards graduate, was named to the top unit in 2008 at an infield spot.

“Cole was the best all-around player for us this season. He played shortstop, pitcher and some center field,” said Tiger head coach Mark Weber.

“It’s a well-deserved honor. I’m very proud of him.”

Weber said the voters looked at Reinemann’s batting and pitching prowess. He batted .424 for the season with 19 RBIs, 11 runs scored, four doubles and one triple. Reinemann had a slugging percentage of .525, a .521 on-base percentage and nine stolen bases in nine attempts.

On the mound, he was 3-0 with a 2.78 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 35-2/3 innings.

“I was impressed with his confidence level and the ability to perform in clutch situations. He had some big hits for us. He won some big games,” Weber noted.

Sophomore infielder Brad Boegel of Eastern Wisconsin Conference champion Kewaskum was voted to the first team. Boegel is the only underclassmen on the first team.

Senior infielder Ryan Solberg of Waukesha West was selected the state’s Player of the Year. The Coach of the Year is West Salem’s Chuck Ihle. Nicolet’s Jeff Wolf was named the Assistant Coach of the Year.

Sophomore outfielder Cole Heili of Sheboygan Falls is on the first team. Falls’ Zach Van Engen, a sophomore infielder, senior outfielder Andrew Endsley and sophomore Devin Christenson were selected honorable mention.
