Legion posts offering shooting program

Young shooting enthusiasts in the area may now take advantage of an organized shooting program being offered for the second time by Post 243 and Post 261 of the American Legion.

The program is open to young men and women age 12 to 18.

The program will meet weekly in the Plymouth area, beginning in mid-September, possibly on Monday nights. Exact dates will be determined based on students’ schedules.

The program uses .177-cal. air rifles provided by the Legion. Targets and ammo are included in the registration cost.

The curriculum will include gun safety, safe handling and use of firearms taught by NRA-certified instructors. Participants will receive a certificate of completion after going through the eight-week basic marksmanship course.

Anyone interested in enrolling or more information should contact DuWayne Wieck at (920) 627-1879 by Aug. 31.
