Falcons runners ready for season

Looking ahead to her second season as Sheboygan Falls High School cross country coach, Tiffany Otte feels this year’s boys and girls teams have a strong work ethic and plenty of potential.

The Falcons return a good core of veterans along with some promising runners that could battle for spots on the varsity roster.

The boys and girls squad both took sixth at the 2009 Eastern Wisconsin Conference Meet. Senior Lucas LaCrosse and junior Nicole Bartel were named to last year’s All-EWC second team. In addition, Mack Carstens earned a spot on the first team All-EWC junior varsity team.

Senior Devin Christenson, along with juniors Lucas Lambrecht and Brandon Posewitz are the top returnees for the boys team. LaCrosse and Christenson return as three-year varsity team members.

Juniors Stephanie Kleckner and Rachel Miley will look to strengthen the girls squad as the top returning members from last year’s team.

Newcomers for the boys unit include: sophomore Jake Hucke, freshman Mitchell Lambrecht and freshman Nick St. Onge.

For the girls team, juniors Kayla Drossel, Olivia Warpinski, sophomore Krystal St. Andre and freshmen Katie Depagter and Katherine Graumann will be contending for spots on the varsity roster.

“I am very excited about this season,” said Otte. “This is truly a great team to coach. I feel that they have worked hard to get their summer mileage and cross training. It shows, because they off to a good start, prepared and stronger than last season.”
