Owners Mary Ellen Schmidley and husband Rich Hovde, were joined by Sheboygan Falls Chamber- Main Street board members and ambassadors Schel Kidd and Ruth Paul, as well as Mayor Randy Meyer and the salon staff Sandy Bender, Mary Eder, Raelynn Wentz, Cathy Thiessen and Mary Jo Huber at a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony for Falls Salon & Spa.
The full-service salon and day spa is located at 1017 Fond du Lac Ave. in Sheboygan Falls. Schmidely, a certified massage therapist at the former Heritage Hair Salon, decided to expand into salon services when the besiness became available for purchase.
Hair care and skin beauty still lie at the heart of the business, but Schmidley said, “I would like to develop the health and wellness aspect, and do more massages for people with knee and hip replacements and cancer-related issues.” Since taking ownership, Schmidley’s goal has been providing a family-friendly atmosphere for hair styling, massage, pedicure, manicure, facials, waxing and special events. The salon’s interior has been redesigned and a menu of spa packages has been added.
