CLAUDE S. HALBACH JR.

Claude S. “Mike” Halbach Jr., 71, of 306 N. 10th St., Oostburg, went home to his Lord on Tuesday morning, Aug. 31, 2010, at St. Luke Medical Center in Milwaukee where he had been a patient for the past five weeks.

Mike was born in Fond du Lac on Dec. 8, 1938, the son of the late Claude J. and Margaret (Holzmann) Halbach Sr. He attended Glenbeulah High School.

On Aug. 28, 1981, he married Margaret (Whitcraft) Gile in Oostburg.

Mike was a welder for over 45 years before his retirement in 2000. He had worked at Knowles in Glenbeulah for 20 years and then Manitowoc Shipyards for 25 years.

Mike was a member at Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan, the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star in Plymouth.

Mike enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, going up to his cabin in Merrill, traveling, making sausage, playing cards and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Marge; one daughter, BrendaLee (Dale) Sunquist of Sheboygan; five sons, Daniel (Sherrie) Halbach of Oostburg, Randy (Patty) Halbach of Merrill, Jeffrey (Robin) of Merrill, Rodney Halbach of Sheboygan and Wayne (Tammy) Halbach of Sheboygan Falls; two stepdaughters, Cheryl (Ron) Werner of Sheboygan and Shelly Gile of Sheboygan; five stepsons, Michael (Jennifer) Gile of Wausau, Timothy (Glynn) Gile of Humbird, Gregory Gile of Wausau, Bradley (Kateri) Gile of Chilton and Scott Farr of Sheboygan; 35 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ronald (Peggy) Halbach of New Holstein.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Margaret Halbach; his stepmother, Mildred (Verhage) Halbach; an infant son; and an infant brother, Roman Halbach.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church, located at 4930 Green Valley Lane in Sheboygan, with the Rev. Brian DeJong officiating.

Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home, located at 108 Center Ave. in Oostburg, on Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon, and at the

church from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
