HAROLD L. MEYER

Harold L. Meyer, age 83, of 306 N.E. Highland Ave., Plymouth, Wis., passed away early Wednesday morning, Aug. 25, 2010, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan where he had been a patient for the past nine days.

He was born on June 27, 1927 in Plymouth, a son of the late Benno and Emma Hand Meyer. He attended St. John the Baptist Grade School and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1945.

He served in the United States Navy from 1945-46 and also served in the reserves for many years.

On Nov. 15, 1952, he married Anne Mugan at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. The couple has resided in Plymouth since their marriage.

Harold worked at Nicolaus’s Gas Station in Plymouth for several years, at A&P Cheese Company for 25 years, and at Sargento Cheese Company for 6 years before retiring in 1991.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth and belonged to the Cascade American Legion Post 386 and the Knights of Columbus Plymouth Council No. 1789.

He enjoyed vacationing in Florida, golfing, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and was most proud to say he attended the Ice Bowl Game.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Anne of Plymouth; two daughters, Jeanne (Dale) Kautzer of Plymouth and Mary (Chad) Christianson of Elkhart Lake; four grandchildren, Sarah (Jasen) Rydzewski of Milwaukee, Stephen Kautzer (special friend Amy Waters) of Plymouth, Cassie (Jake) Wiegand of Sheboygan, and Abby Bonde (special friend Tom Healy) of Sheboygan; four great-grandchildren, Allison and Ava Rydzewski, Zen Bonde and Elise Healy; two brothers, George (Roxanne) Meyer of Plymouth and Gerald Meyer of Plymouth; one sister-in-law, Bernice Mugan of Plymouth; one brother-in-law, William Punzenberger of Plymouth; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Harold was preceded in death by one sister, Angela Meyer Skelton; and three brothers, Leo, Gilbert and Robert Meyer.

Funeral Mass was held on Saturday noon, Aug. 28, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth preceded by family rites at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. The very Rev. Dennis Van Beek, pastor of the church officiated. Entombment was in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum in the town of Sheboygan.

The American Legion Post 386 of Cascade conducted military rites at the church following the services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Harold’s name. The Suchon Funeral home and Cremation Services is serving the family. For online condolences, visit www.suchonfh.com.
