PHS 2-1 in EWC vball quad

CAMPBELLSPORT – Plymouth finished 2-1 in Tuesday’s Eastern Wisconsin Conference girls volleyball quadrangular, including a strong showing against perennial power Waupun.

The Panthers gave defending EWC champion Waupun a good battle before falling in three games, 15- 25, 22-25 and 16-25. The Warriors won the Division 2 state title in 2008. The meet was Plymouth’s 2010 opener.

“Our girls played really well. A couple of mental errors into the net and missed serves dug us a whole in the first game that was hard to come out of,” said Panther head coach Peggy Huhn about the Waupun match.

“The second game we cleaned some things up and played right with them. Again, a matter of a few missed serves and the games are turned up completely different. We have now seen them and the next time we see them, it will be another strong battle.”

Megan Flood, Johanna Egerer and Marissa Grapentine led PHS in spike kills versus Waupun with four each. Emma Addy led in assists with eight. Clarice Hnilicka had a team-best five digs apiece.

The Panthers defeated host Campbellsport 25-10, 25-22, 25-14; and Two Rivers 25-20, 25-13, 25-18.

Flood led PHS in kills in the Campbellsport match with five. Lizzie Rooker led in assists with four. Hnilicka was 14-for-14 in serve reception.

Rachael Cecka paced PHS in kills versus Two Rivers with seven. Addy led in assists with 15.
