Panthers top Falls in EWC battle
SHEBOYGAN FALLS – Plymouth opened its Eastern Wisconsin Conference girls tennis season with a hard-fought 5-2 dual win over host Sheboygan Falls Thursday afternoon.
The Panthers won three of the four singles matches to key the win as they improved to 4-3 overall. The Falcons slipped to 1-1 in EWC action.
The match of the day was at No. 1 doubles where Plymouth’s Amanda Gumm and Lauren Schwalenberg outlasted Michelle Schleevogt and Jamie Kelling 7-6, 7-6. The Panther duo won tiebreakers in both sets by 7-2 and 7-4 scores.
“The Sheboygan Falls Falcons showed a great deal of determination in this match,” said Panther head coach Tom Pederson.
“I had warned my team that they needed to take the Falls team very seriously. I was proud that my team was able to withstand the Falls effort.” | GIRLS TENNIS
