Tigers kick win streak to five

Howards Grove ran its winning streak to five with a 4-0 victory over visiting Kiel in nonconference boys soccer Saturday morning.

Senior forward Duston Rabe scored a hat trick (three goals) to ignite the Tigers’ attack. One of Rabe’s goals was on a penalty kick. Paul Elzinga converted a penalty kick for the other tally.

“Our boys started off a bit flat. They remained focused, and after a couple of penalty kicks they were able to find some openings to take advantage of,” said Tiger head coach Todd Fischer whose team improved to 6-1.

“I am very proud that they have a never-give-up attitude.”

Robert Betke and Chris Niemann contributed one assist each. Tiger goalkeeper Carter Rockhill had five saves. Howards led in shots on goal, 10-5.

OZAUKEE MATCH

Seven players scored in the Tigers’ 8-0 thumping of Ozaukee in Central Lakeshore Conference play Thursday afternoon at Howards. The Tigers hiked their CLC mark to 3-0.

Howards dominated the match – holding an amazing 31-2 advantage in shots on goal. Senior forward Nathan Mutsch and freshman forward-defender Tanner Voss tallied a team-high two goals apiece. One of Voss’s goals came on a penalty kick.

Rabe, Niemann, Jordan Fischer and Zach Berglund booted one goal each. Garrett Jahnke, Niemann, Matt Brickner, Fischer and Berglund had one assist each.

Rockhill made two saves and Warrior goalie Tyler Flanders had 23.
