WILLARD R. HERZOG

Willard R. Herzog, 87, formerly of Howards Grove, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010 at Countryside Manor.

Willard was born June 7, 1923, in Sheboygan to the late Robert and Flora (Steffen) Herzog. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.

On Oct. 19, 1946, he married the former Lila Mae Toll in Howards Grove. She preceded him in death Jan. 18, 2006.

Willard was employed by Garton Toy Co. before starting K&H Builders. Later he worked for the village of Howards Grove, where he retired.

He was an active member of VFW Post 9924 and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Howards Grove, where he served as treasurer and head usher.

Willard enjoyed woodworking and spending time with family, friends and relatives.

Survivors include his son, Randy (Joyce) Herzog, town of Sheboygan; grandson, Anthony (Becky) Herzog, town of Sheboygan; three great-grandchildren, Noah, Eva and Kaleb; and one sister, Jean Maercklein.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Charles Maercklein.

Funeral services for Willard will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Howards Grove (W2776 State 32) with the Rev. Darrel Bergelin officiating. Military honors will follow.

Friends may call at the church Friday from 4:30 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m.
