Fohr powers unbeaten Panthers to victory

PLYMOUTH – Senior forward Zach Fohr scored four goals to propel the Plymouth Panthers to an 11-0 rout over Two Rivers in a boys soccer match Tuesday afternoon at Panther Field.

PHS hiked its Eastern Wisconsin Conference record to 5-0 and improved to 9-0 overall. The Panthers have recorded seven straight shutouts.

The match ended after the 60th minute due to new WIAA-mandated “mercy rule” in which the game is over after the 60th minute if a team leads by 10 or more goals.

Paul Thompson tallied two goals for the Panthers who held an impressive 19-2 edge in shots on goal. Scoring one goal each were Brad Mallmann, Ben Schuldt, Marcus Gamoke, Franz Tadych and Logan Ryan. Thompson had a team-high three assists.

PHS goalie Jon Hintz made two saves and Two Rivers’ Erik Wiegand had eight.

“It was a very windy today and that can pose some challenges. We had to play on the floor and build attacks around short passes and we were quite successful doing that,” said PHS head coach Sam Schroeder.

“We got our outside backs involved a lot more often in this game than we have in previous contests and I’m very happy to see that growth. When you're able to attack with numbers as often as we did today, you're going to score some goals.”
