Resorters drop CLC volleyball debut
The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters lost their Central Lakeshore Conference girls volleyball opener against Sheboygan Christian, 8-25, 19-25, 27-29 Thursday night.
“We had a slow start to the match, however the girls did a good job of fighting back and made sets two and three intense and exciting to watch,” said Resorter head coach Terri Huether.
Rachel Knowles led Elkhart in spike kills with four, ace serves, four and digs, six. Abbey Neils had a team-high four blocks and also had five digs. Beth Merten paced the team in assists with five and had five digs.

The Resorters opened their season Aug. 28 in the Gresham Invitational and placed third with a 1-2 dual record. Elkhart defeated Bowler and fell to champion Green Bay Southwest and Gresham.
“Overall, the day was a success. The girls played well,” said Huether.
“We will need to work on serve receive and having consistent serving.” Knowles led Elkhart in kills with 11 and digs, 10, in the tournament. Merten had a team-best 20 assists. Neils led in blocks with six. Charity Rodriguez had a team-high nine ace serves.
