Resorters eke out CLC win

CEDAR GROVE – Senior Abbey Neils fanned 12 batters and drove in the winning run for the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters who edged host Cedar Grove-Belgium, 5-4, Tuesday afternoon.

The Resorters upped their Central Lakeshore Conference softball record to 1-1 (1-1 overall).

Neils’ sacrifice fly, which drove in Emily Grunewald, gave Elkhart a 5-4 lead in the top of the sixth inning.

Neils threw a complete-game victory – giving up two earned runs on six hits with only one walk.

Senior outfielder Stephanie Knepfel sparked the Resorters’ attack with a team-high three hits, runs and stolen bases each. Neils led in RBIs with four. Charity Rodriguez contributed two hits and an RBI.

Steph Ruppel was the losing hurler. Ruppel surrendered four earned runs on nine hits with seven walks, one strikeout and one hit batter in seven innings.
