Resorters fall short in season debut
The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters rallied late but came up shy, 4-3, against host Random Lake in their girls soccer season debut Thursday afternoon.
Ashley Pfeifer’s goal with 17 minutes left pulled the Resorters to within 4-3. Elkhart had a chance to tie the game but missed a penalty kick.
Maddie Landgraf and Kelly Theel scored Elkhart’s other goals.
Kristianne Knight led the Rams (1-1 in the CLC and 1-1 overall) in scoring with two goals and also had an assist.
Resorter head coach Richard Sadiq was very encouraged with his team’s debut showing.
“It was a great opener. We played hard,” Sadiq said.
“Our freshmen jelled in with the rest of the team.”
OOSTBURG MATCH
In CLC action Tuesday afternoon, the host Resorters fell to Oostburg, 6-0.
“We were thoroughly outplayed by a strong Oostburg team. Oostburg is well-coached,” said the coach.
“Ashley Pfeifer [freshman midfielder] was a bright spot. Becca Hembel [senior defender] was solid on defense.”
