Singing the songs of Winter
Sheboygan Falls Elementary School kindergarten and second-grade students presented their Winter Songfest Concert Tuesday, Jan. 24, at the Sheboygan Falls High School auditorium. The event was well attended by parents, family and friends, who enjoyed several non-traditional songs from the youth.
Sarah Vincent, a substitute for Kerri Levenduski, played the piano and announced the musical pieces for the kindergartners. The second-grade students took turns explaining a variety of things about each of the musical selections.
The choice of music allowed students to display the diversity of talents and musical fundamentals they have been learning. The concert included everything from keeping a beat, to hand and body syncopations and language from a traditional Caribbean calypso.
The kindergartners presented “Animals Galore and More,” while the second graders performed “Around the World.” Both grades showcased their musical pieces with enthusiasm. The efforts of all students were well-received and enjoyed by all.
