HELEN CAROLINE “CAROLE” DICKE

Helen Caroline “Carole” Dicke, 77, of Sheboygan Falls, peacefully died at her home Sunday, June 2, 2013, after a lengthy illness.

Carole was born Jan. 3, 1936, in Sheboygan Falls, the daughter of Leonard and Helen (Kallas) Kalupa. She graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1954.

On Oct. 19, 1957, she married Delbert Dicke in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death April 5, 1998.

Prior to her marriage, Carole was a nanny and housekeeper for the Reiss family. Carole worked for the Wisconsin Bell Telephone Co. in Sheboygan for several years before she and her family moved to California where she continued to work at the telephone company from 1962-70. The family returned to Wisconsin and she continued to work for the telephone company until the Sheboygan office closed in 1974. Carole then attended LTC for her nursing certification in 1975. She was a nurse’s aide at Pine Haven Christian Home and Sunny Ridge Nursing Home until her retirement in 1998.

Carole was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls.

She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, playing cards, golf, gardening, traveling, dancing, and listening to Delbert play his trumpet and saxophone in polka bands. Their family enjoyed many vacations to the Wonder Spot Resort in Bruce, Wis.

Carole is survived by three daughters, Denise Dicke of Cedar Grove and Dawn (Curt) Buhler and Danette Mary (Joe) St. Andre, both of Sheboygan Falls; two sons, Derrick Dicke of Sheboygan Falls and Dwight Dicke of Plymouth; five grandchildren, Mitchell, Michael and Maria Buhler, all of Sheboygan Falls, and Matthew (fiancée, Michelle Misterly) St. Andre of Gwinn, Mich., and Krystle St. Andre of Sheboygan Falls; and two brothersin law, Donald (Pauline) Dicke and James Denzin, both of Sheboygan Falls.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Kalupa and Helen Kalupa Strasser; her stepfather, Louis Strasser; husband, Delbert; one daughter, Debra Dicke and one sister, Elaine Denzin.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Carole’s life will take place at Blessed Trinity Parish at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8, with the Rev. Bob Lotz officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Sheboygan Falls.

Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls on Friday, June 7, from 4-7 p.m., and at Blessed Trinity Parish on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 10 a.m.

A memorial fund is being established in her memory for Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Foundation, St. Nicholas Home Health Care and Hospice, and Blessed Trinity Parish.

The staff of the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls (920-467- 3431) is serving the Dicke family.

The Dicke family would like to extend their deep appreciation to Carole’s caregivers, Ann, Brenda and Sami, and to the staff of St. Nicholas Home Health Care and Hospice for the dedicated and loving care given to their mom and family.
