Neils pitches Resorters to win

CEDAR GROVE – Abbey Neils fanned 11 batters and surrendered just four hits as the Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah Resorters defeated Cedar Grove-Belgium, 7-2, in softball action here Friday afternoon.

Neils, who earned a complete-game win, walked only two and gave up two earned runs.

The Resorters improved to 5-4 in the Central Lakeshore Conference (6-4 overall).

Freshman Miranda Sippel went 3-for-4 and Stephanie Knepfel collected two hits to key Elkhart’s bats. Knepfel and Charity Rodriguez scored a team-high two runs apiece. Sippel also contributed an RBI.

Kasie Fiend, the starting and losing pitcher, knocked in a run for the Rockets. Fiend had seven walks and two strikeouts while giving up nine hits in six frames.
