Falls' Bachmann soars to state tourney

by Steve Ottman

LOMIRA – Sheboygan Falls Falcons sophomore Chris Bachmann carded a 1-under par 35 on his first nine holes and finished with a 3-over par 76 to tie for medalist honors at the WIAA Division 2 Golf Sectional Meet at Camelot Golf Club in Lomira Tuesday, May 31.

The round qualified Bachmann for the WIAA Division 2 State Tournament as an individual. The state championship event was held Monday, June 6 and Tuesday, June 7 at University Ridge Golf Club in Madison.

In the team competition, Falls finished sixth overall behind state team qualifiers Racine St. Catherine’s and Plymouth.

“This is the first time that Falls has had a state qualifier in over 15 years,” said Falcons' head coach Phil Marr. “ I’m looking forward to seeing Chris play at Madison. He’s only a sophomore and the experience there will make him better for the upcoming years.”
