Tigers’ Mutsch repeats on All-CLC first team

Senior forward Nathan Mutsch of Howards Grove is a unanimous All-Central Lakeshore Conference boys
soccer first-team pick for the second straight season.
Mutsch is one of six unanimous selections in voting by the CLC coaches and the only first-team repeater.
The Tigers' other first-team player is junior defender Garrett Jahnke who moved up from the second unit
last year.
The Tigers have a pair of second-team players in senior forward Robert Betke and junior goalkeeper Cody
Klemme. Earning honorable mention for Howards are senior defender Alex Jaeger, junior forward Chris
Niemann and junior midfielder Eric Moehring.
Mutsch led the CLC in goals with 19, assists, 10 and points with 48 (two points per goal and one point per
assist).
“Nathan is a very talented offensive player who has a passion for the game,” said Tiger head coach Todd
Fischer.
“He's a leader on the team who pushed his teammates to work hard and get better. He was the third-highest
scorer in the state. He used his talent to outplay opponents and score.”
Jahnke contributed one goal and seven assists.
“Garrett is a strong player with great field awareness and the ability to win the ball and then direct traffic to
maintain possession,” Fischer pointed out.
“He is quiet off the field but very vocal on the field. He could play any position on the field with success.
Garrett led the team by his actions.”
Betke finished 11th in the CLC in points with 14. He tallied five goals and had four assists.
“Robert is a very aggressive and talented player,” the coach observed.“ He would play in whatever position
would allow his team to be successful.
“He is a strong leader who other players looked up to. Has a natural talent with the soccer ball and the
ability to possess.”
Klemme made 79 saves and surrendered only 15 goals in 14 CLC matches. He also had a goal and two
assists.
“Cody is a very talented goalkeeper. As the season progressed, he became much more vocal and had big
saves – keeping our team in the game,” Fischer noted.
“His communication and excitement kept our team focused.
Moehring had three goals and three assists in league play. Jaeger scored three goals.
Niemann ranked sixth in goals with 12 and tied for sixth in points at 26. He also had two assists.
The other unanimous first-team players are senior midfielder Eric Mehoke of Kohler; junior
midfielder/forward Andrew Ross, Random Lake; senior midfielder Brandon Hokanson, Oostburg; senior
forward Alessandro Pieri, Sheboygan Christian; and senior forward Kyle Kirst of Cedar Grove-Belgium.
Mehoke ranked No. 2 in the lesague in goals with 18 and points, 44. He shared second in assists with Ross
and Kohler's Connor Hogan and Jack Imberti at eight each.
Kohler, which won the CLC title with a 14-0 record, has a league-high four first-team picks.
