Giles runs wild, Rockets advance to state semis

CAMBRIDGE – Junior running back Alex Giles rushed for 265 yards and two touchdowns to power the
Cedar Grove-Belgium Rockets to a 26-13 win over host Cambridge in the Division 5 state football
quarterfinals Saturday afternoon.
Giles, who had 32 carries, had scoring dashes of 63 yards in the third quarter and 45 in the fourth. He
exploded for 209 yards in the second half.
Senior running back Hunter Buechler's 10-yard run, followed by Josh Ruppel's PAT in the second quarter
gave Cedar Grove a 7-6 halftime lead.
The Rockets' other TD came on a 9-yard run by quarterback T.J. Obbink in the fourth period that gave them
a 20-6 lead.
Cedar Grove, 12-0, advances to the semifinals Saturday versus Lancaster, 12-0, at Middleton at noon.
The Rockets piled up 330 yards on the ground (367 total yards) and held the Blue Jays to only 227 in total
offense.
Alex Resnick led Cambridge in rushing with 98 yards and had a 2-yard TD run.
