Remembering A.J. – 10 years later

Five Sheboygan Falls High School students gathered at Sheboygan Falls Elementary School Friday, Oct.
14, to pay tribute to A.J. Venetjoki, who passed away at the age of 7 in a car accident on Oct. 30, 2011.
Venetojki was a second-grade student at SFES at the time of his death.
The SFHS students honored Venetjoki by touching up and staining the wood finish of the “J.J. Express” toy
train that was installed in his memory on the SFES playground in 2002. The tragic accident also took the
life of A.J.’s father, Ari, and his brother 4-year-old Noah, 10 years ago.
Pictured left to right are Cassie Hammen, Brandon Posewitz, Ben Fairbotham, Allison Bassuener, Karl
Huberty and A.J.’s mother Karla Venetjoki. Hammen, Fairbotham and Bassuener, who were Venetjoki’s
classmates, will graduate from SFHS this year.
