Sleigh Bell Walk-Run is scheduled for Dec. 3 in Kiel

The 17th Annual Sleigh Bell Run/Walk, featuring a two-mile run/walk and a five-mile run is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 3, in Kiel to benefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Sheboygan and Manitowoc counties and the Kiel Cross Country Booster Club.

The run/walk begins at 10am with day-of-race registration from 8-9:45am.

After the finish, Reindeer Games for kids will follow in the Kiel City Park.

In addition, this year’s event will feature the Door County Sled Dogs, sponsored by the Kiel Area Chamber of Commerce. Community friends and families are invited to “come and meet the dogs,” take photographs, and learn about the sport of mushing. Following the race, with snow permitting, friends will be able to ride the wind on a dog sled for a fee of $10.

Participants are encouraged to register in advance, at, to save $5 off of the dayof race fee. The deadline for online registrations is Nov. 27.

All Sleigh Bell Run/Walk participants will receive a long-sleeved event T-shirt with medals awarded to first- through third-place male and female runners in designated age divisions as well as first place overall.

Santa will also be at the events and the Cross Country Booster Club will be hosting a holiday bake sale, 8am-noon.

New this year, registered participants may pick up their race packet on Friday, Dec. 2, at the Kiel Middle School gym, between 7 and 8pm.
