Howards upped its first-place Central Lakeshore Conference record to 6-0 (8-1-1 overall).

The Tigers exploded for three goals in the first 17 minutes. Brianna Morgen scored only four minutes into the match, followed by goals from Carmen Conrad and Krista Hackbarth, respectively. Morgen assisted on Conrad’s goal, and Conrad had the assist for Hackbarth’s tally.

Howards, which led 3-0 at halftime, scored four goals in the second half. Karyssa Gallenberger, Conrad, Morgen and Hackbarth kicked one goal each. Conrad and Gallenberger contributed an assist apiece in the half.

“The girls played some great team soccer tonight. I thought we moved the ball around real well and we had some great combinations come together for goals,” said Tiger head coach Eric Worth.

“The girls did a nice job coming out strong and maintaining their focus throughout the contest.”

“Howards Grove is a very good team,” said Resorter head coach Richard Sadiq. “They overwhelmed us physically. We had a flat performance.”

The Tigers led by a whopping 26-10 in shots on goal. Howards’ goalkeepers Brittany Wehrmann and Courtney Wescher made five saves each. Elkhart goalie Rachel Knowles had 19 saves.

“Tonight we took another step in the right direction and I’m hoping we can continue to build on what we’ve been doing,” Worth added.

EL-LUTH./KOH. MATCH

The Resorters lost to Sheboygan Lutheran/Kohler, 5-2, in a CLC match Tuesday afternoon at Lutheran. Elkhart slipped to 2-3 in the league (2-3 overall) while the Crusaders improved to 5-2 (7-5 overall).

Ashley Pfeifer scored a goal for Elkhart. The Resorters’ other score came on an own goal when the ball deflected off a Lutheran player into the net.

“It was disappointing [team’s performance]. We had bad passing and not good foot control,” said Sadiq.

Knowles made 18 saves in the goal.
