Sheriff’s Report – Nov. 4

Michael J. Schaefgen, 50, 1209 Pinecrest Road, Green Bay, was arrested Nov. 3 after he crashed his vehicle in an attempt to commit suicide, said Capt. David Adams.

The accident occurred at 1:29 p.m. and was reported by a mail carrier who witnessed the accident. The carrier reported that the vehicle was still running and the wheels still turning. The windows were tinted, preventing him to see inside.

Plymouth Fire Department, Glenbeulah First Responders, Greenbush Fire Department, the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department, and Plymouth Jaws of Life responded to the scene. Schaefgen was trapped inside and had to be extricated by Jaws of Life.

According to the accident report, Schaefgen was driving eastbound on Center Road, just .2 miles south of Scenic View Road, when he drove off into the left ditch and collided with several trees. The vehicle, a 1995 Jeep Cherokee, overturned and landed on its roof.

Schaefgen was injured and taken to Theda Clark by Flight for Life. He told officers that his intention was to kill himself. He was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
