`A Christmas Carol’ children’s art contest at PAC

The Plymouth Arts Center is presenting a Children’s Art Contest based on the theme: “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens. The art contest is designed for aspiring artists from Sheboygan County, ages 6- 10.

Children should research the story. The Plymouth Arts Center Theatre Company is presenting the play “A Christmas Carol” adapted by John Mortimer, directed by Kerrylynn Kraemer-Curtiss, Dec. 11-13 and 18-19.

Art can be created using colored pencil, crayons, felt tip markers or paint (no 3-D materials). Dimension of entry should be 11-by-17-inch paper used horizontally. A maximum of one entry per child is permitted.

A panel of judges will select winning entries based on artistic merit, creativity, theme communication, and whether the submission adheres to the rules.

All artwork entered into the contest will be displayed at the Arts Center in time for the Plymouth Downtown Holiday Gathering weekend, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 27-28, and will remain on display through Jan. 1.

First prize is $50 and the image will be used in the PAC's winter newsletter and on the Web site. Additional prizes and merit awards will be presented.

The artwork will be available for pickup after Jan. 5.

For an application form and contest rules, contact the Plymouth Arts Center. Participant’s parent or legal guardian must complete the application and the consent form. All entries must be mailed or hand delivered to the Plymouth Arts Center, 520 E. Mill St., by the deadline Friday, Nov. 20, at 4 p.m.
