Volleyball match to support cancer battle

The Sheboygan Falls High School and Plymouth High School volleyball teams will be adding another competitor to their match at Sheboygan Falls on Thursday, Sept. 27 - cancer.

The teams will not only compete against each other for a conference victory, but also to see which team can raise the most money for families facing cancer.

The teams will be taking part in a program called Coaches vs. Cancer to raise funds to help support the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving efforts to eliminate the disease. A major portion of the funds raised will help people living in Wisconsin.

The teams have planned for many activities along with the night’s volleyball match, which begins at 7 p.m.

Each player will designate a cancer survivor for whom they will be dedicating the match.

Special recognition will be given to cancer survivor fans at the match. Players will wear pink head bands and socks and a penny war will take place during the matches. There will also be competitions for fans between sets.

Purple pledge cards will be sold for $1 during the weeks leading up to the event and on the evening of the event. The pledge cards will then be displayed on the wall of the gym.

The two teams have set a fundraising goal of $2,700.
