Three Resorters advance to sectional

Rebedew (36-11), a freshman, placed second at 106 pounds. Bonebrake (36-13), a sophomore, was runner-up at 132. Schanke (25-10), a senior, took second at 160. The top-two finishers at each weight class qualify for the sectional Saturday at Cedar Grove, starting at 10:30 a.m.

Rebedew lost in the finals to Random Lake standout Jon Mudlaff by a technical fall, 16-0. The Resorter wrestler advanced to the title match with a pin over Ozaukee’s Daniel Watry in the semifinals.

Bonebrake fell to Random Lake’s Zak Stepniewski in the finals, 8-3. In the wrestle-back for second place, Bonebrake earned an 11-4 decision over Ozaukee’s Taz Gottsacker. Bonebrake made it to the finals with a pin against Devon Villareal of Cedar Grove- Belgium in the semifinals.

Schanke advanced to the finals with a 3-0 decision overs Oostburg’s Cody Mullikin in the semifinals.

Random Lake won the regional title with 260 points and Oza- ukee was second at 214. Elkhart took sixth in the seven-team tourney with 90. Random Lake advances to the team sectional Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Markesan.

The Resorters’ other placewinners include: Jed Hersey, sixth at 113; Trevor Rebedew, fifth, 138; Cody Wilterdink, fifth, 145; Tyler Jones, fourth, 152; and Nick Miller, third at 182. Miller lost a wrestle-back for second to Oostburg’s Jordan Block by a major decision, 9-1.

“I am very proud of all our wrestlers on the year that they had. While we didn’t get as many guys through to sectionals as I was expecting, they had a great year overall,” said Resorter head coach Larry Ward.

“Trent, Brock and Shane stepped it up today and will continue on their journey towards Madison at next week’s sectionals in Cedar Grove.”
