Hilbert cruises past EL in regional

HILBERT – Hilbert outscored the Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah Resorters 34-18 in the second half to break the game open en route to a 57-31 rout in a Division 5 boys regional basketball first-round game here Wednesday night.

The Wolves, a No. 4 seed, improved to 11-12. The No. 13-seeded Resorters ended their season at 4-19.

Elkhart trailed only 8-7 after one quarter. The Wolves used a 15-6 scoring edge in the second period to build a 23-13 halftime lead. Hilbert busted the game open by outscoring the Resorters 18-5 in the fourth quarter.

Senior guard Ollie Sadiq led the Resorters in scoring with 10 points. Junior point guard Jordan Jones paced Hilbert’s attack with 16 points.

The Wolves routed 12th-seeded Gibraltar, 77-45, in the semifinals Friday night. Hilbert was scheduled to face No. 1-seeded Green Bay Northeast Wisconsin Lutheran in the finals Monday night, Feb. 25.
