Students decorate Meals on Wheels bags

Students at Horizon Elementary School in Plymouth recently decorated bags for Meals on Wheels to distribute on Valentine’s Day. Lori Brown’s and Jackie Murphy’s third-grade classes participated for the second year, and were joined by Peggi Gnadt’s fourth-graders. The 58 students decorated 75 bags for the organization. Brown has previous connections to Meals on Wheels, which strives to enhance the quality of independent living through affordable, nutritious home-delivered meals and caring social interaction. “Our hope is that the third-graders learn that they can make a difference in the lives of others and bring a smile to the faces of the people who receive meals on Valentine’s Day,” she said. “It is a way they can give back to a community that gives them so much. For many, this experience was the first time they had ever heard of the Meals on Wheels Program.”
