Valeta Lydia Schuette, age 96, of Plymouth, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at her home.

She was born Dec. 17, 1916, in the town of Mitchell, daughter of the late Ferdinand and Helena (Bilgo) Proefrock.

On June 28, 1947, she married Lester Schuette at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cascade. The couple made their home in Waldo on the family farm. He preceded her in death Dec. 8, 2003.

She attended grade school in the town of Lyndon.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cascade where she was a member of the Ladies Aid, and charter member of the Altar Guild.

Outside the farm she also worked for Kohler Lakeshire Manty and the Waldo Orchard.

In her free time she enjoyed spending time with friends and family and playing cards with one of her numerous card clubs, watching the birds, reading the Bible, traveling, and baseball.

She is survived by her two favorite nephews, Norbert Gumtow of Plymouth and Walter (Charlotte) Gumtow of Monroe, Wis.; and a niece, Gelane Goldbeck of Plymouth. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Vera, Lavina and Daella; and a brother, Edgar.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, at the Schneider Funeral Home, 123 South St, Plymouth, with the Rev. Richard Bidinger, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cascade, officiating. Entombment will follow in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum in the town of Sheboygan.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
