Middle school track meeting set

PLYMOUTH – A middle school track meeting for boys and girls in grades 7-8 in the Plymouth School District will be held March 21 in the Riverview Middle School cafeteria.

The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. The track program is being coordinated by Plymouth School District Community Education and Recreation.

Practices will be held after school, starting April 1. Meets are scheduled to begin April 18 with the final one set for May 16 at various schools in the region.

Golf Digest honors Kohler courses

The Kohler Co.-owned Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run championship golf courses have been featured in the Golf Digest 100 Greatest Rankings.

The Straits Course at Whistling Straits was ranked No. 2 in the 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses, followed by Blackwolf Run’s River Course at No. 14, Whistling Straits’ Irish Course at No. 39 and Blackwolf Run’s Meadow Valleys Course, No. 62.

“We are pleased and honored that all four of our courses continue to rank within the top 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses,” said Jim Richerson, general manager and group director of golf for Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run.

“To be praised amongst the best in America is a true reflection of the first-class experience we offer golfers.”

The Straits and River courses moved up positions in America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses – ranking Nos. 16 and 63, respectively. All four courses ranked high in the Best in State with the Straits at No. 1, River at No. 4, Irish at No. 5 and Meadow Valleys, No. 6.

Established in 1966, America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses is the game’s oldest ranking. The River Course has been ranked in America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses for 22 years and the Straits Course for 14.
