Audience to choose winner at Riverview talent show

Riverview Middle School in Plymouth will host An Evening of Talent, a talent show featuring 23 acts where the audience will choose the winners of cash prizes.

The show will start at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21 in the auditorium at the school, which is located at 300 Riverside Circle.

There will be a variety of stage acts, plus one video presentation with narration. Acts include dancing, singing, playing instruments and more. The Plymouth High School Jolly Pranksters comedy improvisation team will make a special appearance.

Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students.

Audience members will vote for their favorites by placing dollar bills into buckets designated for each act. The act that collects the most money will win a cash prize of $100, with $50 going to second place and $25 to third.

Baked goods and beverages will be offered for sale before, during intermission and after the performances.

Proceeds from the show will help defray the cost for the students choosing to go on a trip to Washington, D.C., this summer with teacher Julie Overby.

“I've been pleasantly surprised by the hidden talents of the students, and I think it's great that they'll have a chance to share their talents,” said Overby, who sat in on some of the auditions. “I personally plan on having plenty of dollar bills on hand for the voting.”
