Not ‘Mear’ly an art show

The annual Helen Mears Art Competition was held March 15 at the Generations Center. The competition is open to 7th- and 8th-grade students from all area schools, as well as home-schooled children. This year Mayor Donald Pohlman (top left) selected a “Mayor’s Choice” award winner. The piece selected, a self portrait by Olivia Honeck (below), will be displayed at City Hall. As it was also a competition winner it will not be hung in the hall until after going through the next stages of the competition.
