Doris Anna Glenzer, age 89, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan.

She was born in the town of Rhine on May 23, 1923, daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Kramer) Riess. She attended Dewey Grade School in the town of Rhine and graduated from Elkhart Lake High School.

On Sept. 23, 1944, she married Herbert Glenzer Jr. at Community United Church of Christ in Elkhart Lake. He preceded her in death March 14, 2009.

She was a member of Saron United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school; and she was a 4-H leader for the Johnsonville Hustlers.

Throughout her working years, she worked as a telephone operator for Elkhart Lake Telephone Co., worked for Wigwam Mills, sold Watkins, and worked at Laack’s Hall for many years.

She is survived by two children, Jeanne Datkunas of Chicago and Lloyd (Nancy) Glenzer of Sheboygan; a son-in-law, Dennis Gosse of Elkhart Lake; four grandchildren, Craig (Kim) Glenzer, Scott Gosse, Melissa (Jeff) Kiphart and Laura Gosse; and five great-grandchildren, Dawson, Travis, Jayden, Hadleigh and Kyle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Yvonne and a sister, Ruby Raeder.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at the Schneider Funeral Home, 123 South St., Plymouth, with the Rev. Kathryn Kuhn officiating. Burial will take place Friday morning, March 22, in the Saron United Church of Christ Cemetery in the town of Sheboygan Falls.

Friends may call Thursday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of service.
