Veterans helping

To the Editor:

As a member of the Kupfhal- Meyer-Scheib American Legion Post and Auxiliary Unit #387, Franklin, I would like to "thank" the public for the support we re- ceived for our recent fundraiser held at Laack's Hall, Johnsonville.

Funds raised will be used to support the many veterans programs available to us. To name just a few, Camp American Legion, that is a free rehabilitation camp for both men and women veterans. Monetary donations go to the veterans' homes at King and Union Grove and VA centers and hospitals, where we help furnish some personal items and other needs. We remember these places at the holidays, not only Christmas but year-round with cash and gifts. Donations are also made to Homeless Veterans shelters and local projects such as Camo Quilt and Veterans Court. There are many more I could mention.

We also do community service. This year we donated classroom American flags to Northview School in Howards Grove and sponsor a boy and girl to Badger Boys and Girls State from Howards Grove High School.

We would also like to thank the friends of the Legion and Auxiliary that donated items for our silent auction and raffle, and congratulate the winners of the door prizes.

Margaret Yonke, president,
ALA Auxiliary #387, Franklin
