Cecka, Novotny lead PHS girls at Oshkosh Invite

OSHKOSH – Rachael Cecka tied for second in the high jump and Julia Novotny was third in the 1,600-meter run to pace Plymouth in Monday’s Oshkosh Invitational girls large school indoor track meet.

Cecka, a senior, posted a 5-4 leap. Novotny, a sophomore, ran a time of 5 minutes, 37.39 seconds.

The Panthers finished 10th in the 19-team meet with 19 points. Kimberly won the championship with 55.33.

Plymouth’s other place-winners were junior Elizabeth Raeder who captured fifth in the pole vault with a season-best 9-0, and freshman Morgan Lisowe who earned seventh in the 400 dash with a 1:05.12 effort.

“Our girls continued to perform well in the early season. Rachael and Elizabeth had a good night in the jumps,” said Panther head coach Jay Grosshuesch.

“Julia ran a gutsy mile [1,600 meters] and Morgan ran a strong 400. Our relay teams [3,200, 800 and 1,600] had quality races and our throwers continue to make some positive progress.”
