Fund drive for Pro Life



The Knights of Columbus Councils from Sheboygan and Manitowoc counties have teamed up to raise money to purchase an ultrasound machine, at a cost of more than $30,000, for The Crossing of Manitowoc County. Dennis Gruenke (center), Grand Knight of Plymouth Council 1789, recently presented Gary Hughes (right), Grand Knight of Our Lady of the Rosary Council 722 of Sheboygan and K of C ultrasound coordinator, with a check for $1,000 raised at various events sponsored by the Plymouth council as Jim Faller (left), Lecturer with the Plymouth council and Faithful Navigator for Assemlby 1204 of Sheboygan, looks on. The Crossing is a non-denominational, non-profit Christian-based organization that offers free pregnancy support services, counseling and education and is, at present, the closest pregnancy support service. The hope is to open a second location of The Crossing in Sheboygan. Holy Family Memorial Hospital in Manitowoc is providing space for a reception area, counseling and examination rooms. Their current ultrasound machine is on loan from a clinic in Sheboygan. Funds raised by the local councils will be matched by the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council. Donations can be made to Knights of Columbus, 833 Center Ave., Sheboygan.
