PHS qualifies 80 state events

Plymouth High School recently hosted the Wisconsin School Music Association Solo and Ensemble Festival for the Eastern Wisconsin Conference.

PHS students performed in 272 events – 222 band, 41 choral and 9 piano – during the annual festival, which was held March 16. Plymouth students received 80 starred firsts, the highest rating possible in the most difficult category, qualifying them for the WSMA State Solo and Ensemble Festival on April 27 at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Altogether, Plymouth students received 100 first ratings and 83 second ratings.

The 62 band, 14 choral and four piano events that qualified for State:

·Bassoon choir: Rachel Francis, Lydia Albright, Megan Huibregtse, Emily Brown, Zach Gambrell, Cole Karcewski, Lizzie Francis, Mitch Eigenberger and Jenna Musiedlek

·Brass sextet: Jeanette Morris, Matthew Rhude, Rachel Holzhaueser, Nick Hildebrand, Hannah Kaiser and Taylor Meyer

· Clarinet solo: Collin Miller

· Clarinet duets: Kylie Schmitz and Brent Thiel; Phoebe Sebranek and Collin Miller

· Clarinet quartets: Phoebe Sebranek, Collin Miller, Keston Murphy and Kyanne Littlefield; Stephen Stirling, Barbara Xiong, Austin Kultgen and Julie Binder

· Clarinet quintet: Brent Thiel, Michaela Kelly, Kieth Grennier, Jackie Klopf and Maddie Strutz
