Resorters win CLC triangular in debut

SAUKVILLE – Despite having little practice due to the poor weather, the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters played well in a season-opening boys golf triangular Tuesday afternoon at the Hawthorne Hills Golf Course.

The Resorters shot 183 in the Central Lakeshore Conference meet on the par-36 back nine. Random Lake took second with 191, followed by Stockbridge at 193.

Senior Ollie Sadiq led the Resorters with a medalist winning 42. Elkhart’s other low players were Antonio Bett with a 45, Jake Shovan, 47 and Elliot Van Oss, 49.

“We played well, considering it was our first time actually playing holes on a course this year,” said Resorter head coach Bart Larson.

“We have hit off mats but that is not the same thing as teeing it up and getting out there and playing the game. I was pleased with all of the guys.

“It was a good chance for them to see what they need to work on, once we can get out there and practice in some decent conditions. Overall, it was nice to start the season with a win,” Larson said.

Jake Hildreth of Stockbridge was the runner-up medalist with a 43. Alex Rathke paced Random Lake with a 45.

Elkhart played in the Sheboygan Falls Invitational Wednesday at The Bull. The 18-hole tournament was unable to be completed on the back nine due to rain. It wasn’t determined at press time if the tourney will be counted as just a nine-hole event.
