Bid adieu



Friends and clients of Generations, the intergenerational center, bid farewell to Executive Director Martha Laning, who is leaving to spend more time with her family. Among the speakers at the open house/ reception were Plymouth School District Superintendent Dr. Clark Reinke (cover) and Steve Schmitt (left center) of Jos. Schmitt and Sons Construction, the contractor who built Generations. "You all are the recipients of her (Laning's) hard work on this project," Schmitt told the crowd, who enjoyed punch and cake while saying goodbye to Laning. "This project is really a lot of you," Luanne Travis, director of Generations' tenant the Family Resource Center, told Laning. "You have a lot of passion. You have a lot of tenacity, and I mean tenacity in a really, really positive way." "This is like leaving family," Laning said. "Who's lucky enough to come to their job and walk in and not want to be any other place. "The first year you plant a plant, it sleeps; the second year it creeps; the third year it leaps. This is our leap year.
