Oneson leads HG to fourth in own invite

Oneson finished third in the finals and Grimm wad fifth. — Photo by Nate Dehne HOWARDS GROVE – Senior Donald Oneseon placed third in the 100- and 200-meter dashes to lead host Howards Grove to fourth place in the Tiger Invitational boys track meet Friday.

The Tigers scored 70 points in the seven-team field. Kiel edged Valders for first, 116-112, followed by Sheboygan South at 100.

Kiel also won the girls championship with 119 points and Random Lake was the runner-up with 106. The Tigers captured sixth with 33 in the seven-team meet.

Oneson raced 11.27 seconds in the 100 and 23.52 in the 200. He also took fourth in the long jump.

Senior Cassie Marver and senior Crystal Peterman paced the Tiger girls with second places in the 1,600 run and 100 high hurdles, respectively. Marver had a time of 5 minutes, 55.22 seconds. Peterman was clocked in 19.93.

Marver finished second. — Photo by Nate Dehne Howards’ other top-three finishers included: boys – Eric Dvorachek, third in the 3,200 in 10:41.68; Matt Lombardo, third, 110 high hurdles, 18.69; and Justin Athorp, third in the long jump at 18-11½; and girls – 1,600 relay, third, with Marver, Theresa Manderle, Emily Eschen and Olga Sverdel, 4:43.95.

“Our team [boys and girls] did a great job,” said Tiger Tyler Biederwolf.

“We had a large number of personal bests and our team is really starting to excel, and is looking great as we get closer to the Central Lakeshore Conference championships.”

Junior Delaney Sinnen of Random Lake set a girls meet record in the 1,600 with 5:22.51 and tied the high jump mark with 5-0 en route to winning both events. She also won the 3,200.
