Resorters earn fifirst win, 2-1

The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters edged host Sheboygan Christian, 2-1, April 25 for their first girls soccer win of the season.

Sophomore midfielder Meghan Clemens scored the eventual game-winning goal with about seven minutes left in the first half when she drove the ball into the net off a corner kick by a teammate.

Freshman midfielder Monica Ruh kicked the Resorters’ other goal after taking a pass from sophomore midfielder Rebecca Graf at the 29:49 mark in the opening half. Ruh’s goal in the Central Lakeshore Conference match was Elkhart’s first of the season after being blanked three straight games.

“What we learned today is when we turn it on and all the girls play at the same pace, we can control the game,” said Resorter head coach Kevin Ruh.

“We need to learn when we can rest, when we need to attack, and when we need to rotate/switch positions on the field.

“Our defenders and midfielders are starting to communicate better and help each other,” said coach Ruh.

Resorter goalie Jenna Mehre made an impressive 30 saves. The Eagles led 31-15 in shots on goal.
