SANDRA L. VAN WORMER

Sandra L. Van Wormer, age 59, of the town of Scott, passed away late Sunday afternoon, May 5, 2013, at her home after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

She was born Nov. 8, 1953 in Calumet, Mich., a daughter of the late Carl and Harriett Zuvich Hookana. She attended Calumet grade schools and graduated from Calumet High School in 1971.

On July 9, 1983, she married David Van Wormer in Jackson, Wis. The couple have resided in the town of Scott since their marriage.

Sandra worked as a customer service representative for many companies in the area and lately at Corevac Co. in Oostburg.

She enjoyed making knickknacks, decorating her home and spending time with her loving family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Dave of the town of Scott; two children, Zack Van Wormer (special friend, Mercedes) of West Jordan, Utah, and Caitlin Van Wormer (fi- ancĂ©, Danny Espen) of the town of Scott; one grandson, Brantley Van Wormer; one brother, John (Betty) Hookana of Marquette, Mich.; one stepbrother, Bruce (Pat) Wagner of Gratiot Lake, Wis.; four sisters: Marge Peschman of L’anse, Mich.; Carol Ochowicz of Adell; Kathy Hookana of Hancock and Mary Hookana of Hancock; her mother-in-law, Barbara Van Wormer of Jenison, Mich.; two brothers-in-law, Dennis (Lisa) Van Wormer of Ada, Mich., and Doug Van Wormer of Jenison, Mich.; three sistersin law: Debbie (Steve) Werner of Lansing, Mich.; Denise (Chuck) Husby of Jenison and Becky (Jack) Hopp of Spring Lake, Mich.; and also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Wayne Van Wormer; stepfather, Bill Wagner; two brothers-in-law, John and Larry; and one nephew, Clayton.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, May 11, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Chaplain Nancy Simez of Sharon S. Richardson Hospice will officiate. Cremation will follow the services.

Friends and family may call at the Suchon Funeral Home from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Sandra’s name.
