Panthers blank West Bend West, win fourth straight

WEST BEND – Becca Ebbott scored two goals to propel Plymouth past West Bend West, 2-0, in a girls soccer match here Thursday.

The nonconference win raised the Panthers’ record to 7-1 and extended their winning streak to four.

Ebbott, a senior forward, kicked the first goal only two minutes into the match. Sigrun Adalgeirsdottir had the assist.

The second goal by Ebbott came on a penalty kick in the 39th minute, just before halftime.

“The first 10 minutes were probably our best 10 minutes of the season maintaining possession and generating scoring opportunities,” said Panther head coach Brad Feick.

“Sigrun made a beautiful pass through West Bend’s defense which had pushed up. Ebbott accelerated past the defense to put us on the board.

“Rachel Francis and Meghan Roelse anchored the defense, with Emily Schirmer and Emily Vorpagel playing aggressively on the flanks,” Feick said.

“The center mids did a nice job distributing the ball. Our forwards worked hard to generate opportunities. We are getting contributions from everyone.”

PHS led 6-5 in shots on goal. The Panthers’ goalkeepers were Sophie Hau and Kathryn Aukerman who had three and two saves, respectively.
