PHS upped its EWC record to 9-2 (14-2 overall). The Falcons fell to 2-8 in the league (4-10 overall).

Junior lefty Rachel Romps recorded her ninth shutout of the season with a two-hitter. Romps fanned 14 batters and walked only one.

“It was a good, solid game as we played a good allaround game,” said Panther head coach Gale Grahn.

“Rachel did a great job. She was strong again with an overpowering fastball, and she hit her spots well.

We played very good defense [with zero errors].

“We struggled at the plate a little but were able to bunch some hits together,” Grahn said.

PHS scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning and three more in the fourth. In the second, Hannah Kaiser, Emily Marty and Marissa Grapentine had RBI singles. In the fourth, Kaiser had an RBI single and Sara Thompson knocked in a run with a fielder’s choice.

Kaiser had a team-high two hits and RBIs each. Joa Cain hammered a double.

Ashley Drossel was the losing pitcher. She gave up four earned runs on six hits with five walks and two strikeouts in going the distance.
