Falcons repeat as EWC tourney, overall champs

FOND DU LAC – Sheboygan Falls won its second straight Eastern Wisconsin Conference Boys Golf Tournament with a blistering 305 here Thursday at the Whispering Springs Golf Club Thursday.

The first-place finish in the 18-hole tourney wrapped up the Falcons’ second consecutive EWC overall championship (includes the 18-hole tourney and the eight mini-tour meets). Falls scored 11 points in the overall standings and the Plymouth Panthers were the runner-up for the second straight year as they totaled 22.

PHS won eight consecutive EWC overall titles before last season.

Freshman Matt Bachmann, the EWC’s Golfer of the Year, was the tourney medalist with a 1-under-par 71. His brother, Chris, was second with a 73.

The Panthers, who placed third with 333, were led by senior Tyler Siech who tied for fourth with an 80. Siech finished second last year. Also scoring for PHS were Tony Arnold, who shared seventh at 81; Matt Gannon, 84; and Sam Potrykus, 88.

Campbellsport earned second with 332 and was led by Logan Eisch who captured third with a 77. The Cougars finished third in the overall race with 27 points.
