Oostburg State Bank donates $10,000

Oostburg State Bank donated $10,000 to the Village of Oostburg to cover expenses associated with the construction of the Interurban trailhead building located on the comer of S. 10th Street and Center Avenue in downtown Oostburg. The building is a replica of a train station depot similar to one that once stood across the street. That Oostburg train depot was one of many rural stops for the Milwaukee Electric Railway’s northern route which was developed in 1908 for rapid transit from Milwaukee to Sheboygan. The Oostburg area houses a section of today’s Interurban trail which extends south to Milwaukee with plans to extend as far north as Green Bay. The trail is open to walkers, runners, bikers, and cross-country skiers. The new trailhead building is part of the village’s overall downtown development plan.
