Betty J. Capelle, age 86, of 2236 Eastern Ave., Plymouth (formerly of Forsyth, Mo.), passed away late Wednesday evening, May 22, 2013, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility where she had been a resident for the past month.

Betty was born May 9, 1927, at Fond du Lac, Wis., daughter of the late Winfield and Clara (Rath) Brigham.

She graduated from Goodrich High School, Fond du Lac, in 1945. She graduated as an RN from St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, through the Army Nurse’s Corps, June 1948.

On Nov. 27, 1948, Betty married Ralph Frederick Capelle at Methodist Church, Division Street, Fond du Lac.

She had been employed at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, until her marriage when they moved to Denison, Iowa. She worked at Denison Iowa Hospital until 1950, then moved to Plymouth. She worked at Plymouth Hospital as a night nurse supervisor until 1984 when she became night nurse supervisor at Valley Manor Nursing Home in Plymouth as well as working on the family farm. She retired in 1986, when they moved to Forsyth, Mo. She worked at Skagg’s Hospital in Branson, Mo., for six months before joining the Hospital Auxiliary in 1990 until 2012.

Ralph preceded her in death April 29, 1996.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth and a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Forsyth.

Betty was past president of Valpo Guild of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth, past president and camp nurse for the Camp Fire Girls of America in Plymouth for many years, a 50-year member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 0243 in Plymouth and also a 50- year member of the Ladies Auxiliary ALO Chapter 5612 of Plymouth.

Betty enjoyed gardening, canning, photography, fishing, cooking and camping.

She is survived by her six children: Kathy (Mike) Schneider, Greenbush, Wis.; Chris (Mike) Briggs, Plymouth, Wis.; Carol (Jeff) Mills, Mosinee, Wis.; Fred (Mayra) Capelle, Cary, N.C.; Linda Ribar, Princeton, Ill., and David (fiancée, Lisa Wodach) Capelle, Plymouth; grandchildren: Megan (Chad) Hansen, Plymouth; Lee (Vishmaa) Briggs, Marshfield, Wis.; Annie Briggs, Plymouth; Steve Briggs (Jayne Grebinski), New York City; Courtney (Ben) Reich, Eau Claire, Wis.; Alex Mills (Jake Bossert), Minneapolis, Minn.; Tony Capelle (fiancée, Kari Sprudau), Sheboygan, Wis.; Amy Capelle (Sean Duncan), Elkhart Lake, Wis.; Kaitlyn Ribar, Madison, Wis.; Kristen Ribar, Normal, Ill., and Nicholas and Jessika Capelle, Cary; step grandchildren: Ana and Luis Rangel, Cary; Alex and Collin Wodach, future grandchildren, Plymouth; four greatgrandchildren: Jamie and Shane Hansen, Luke Reich and Aubrey Bossert; nieces and nephews: Barb (Herb) Heili of Onalaska, Wis.; Jerold (Mary) Brigham, Two Rivers, Wis.; Thomas (Kathleen) Brigham, West Bend, Wis.; Jim (Barb) Brigham, Madison; Jean (Jack) Gebler, Sheboygan, and Robert (Joan) Brigham, Plymouth; and Betty’s special supportive Missouri friends: Marci Lockman, Forsyth, and Margie Downs, Rockaway Beach, Mo.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Harlow, Harold and Robert Brigham.

Funeral services were held Monday evening, May 27, at St. John Lutheran Church, Plymouth. The Rev. Nathan Meador, pastor, officiated. Burial took place at Saron UCC Cemetery, town of Sheboygan Falls.

A memorial fund will be established in Betty’s name for a scholarship in the field of nursing at Plymouth High School.
