Theodore E. “Ted” Simon, age 80, of Fond du Lac, Wis., passed away Sunday morning, May 19, 2013, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

He was born Aug. 6, 1932 in Milwaukee, Wis., a son of the late Theodore A. Simon and Esther A. Olson.

Ted received his GED from the United States Army, serving from 1949-60. He boxed in his free time. He was a Korean War veteran.

On Nov. 1, 1952, he married Marcella E. Szymerek; they had five children together, and divorced. She preceded him in death Nov. 25, 2011.

He worked at Mercury Marine in Cedarburg and in Fond du Lac for 30 years retiring as a supervisor in 1996.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, was a Master Gardener, Optimist, VFW member and loved to play cribbage. In his younger days, he played in many Milwaukee area bands as a drummer and was an artist, farmer and woodworker. He was an avid Packer fan.

Ted is survived by five children: Mary Simmonds (David) of Maricopa, Ariz.; David Simon of Fond du Lac; Annette Blad (partner, Timothy Olson) of Cascade; Sandra Simon of McHenry, Ill., and Sara Jane Simon (significant other, Isaac Minquiz) of Murray, Kentucky; as well as nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by special nieces and nephews: Mike Wisniewski, Gayle Bird, Valerie (Jerry) Houk, Roy (Cara) Tock; many other special family members and friends; and his good friends: Bill (Louise) Johnson, Ralph (Elaine) Gerner, Jay (Jean) Koch.

Ted had three loving ladies in his lifetime: Marcella, then his second wife, Barbara Anderson (married Nov. 17, 1979; divorced) and his current life partner, Lucy Isham of Oshkosh.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther; two sisters, infant Jeannie and Viola Tock; two brothers, Donald Rush and William Simon; one brotherin law, Harold Anderson; father-in-law, Harold Anderson; one grandson, Jeremiah Blad; and his childhood best friend, Bob Van Matre.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. The Rev. Thad Rutter Sr. will officiate. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be at Highland Memorial Park in Milwaukee.

Friends may call at the Suchon Funeral Home from noon on Sunday until the time of services.

The Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612 will conduct military rites at the Suchon Funeral Home following the services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Theodore’s name.
